Vietnamese youths proudly advance under the Party flag

After they were taken on a tour of the War Remnants Museum, members of the Youth Union of the Hồ Chí Minh City Sports Training and Competition Center joined their counterparts from the museum for an exchange with Lê Tú Cẩm, a former political prisoner in Côn Đảo, the former deputy director of the then Department of Culture and Information and current chairperson of the Hồ Chí Minh City Cultural Heritage Association.

During the exchange, Cẩm’s stories gave the youths a glimpse of her past in which she joined the revolutionary movement, then went through the fraught years of imprisonment but still believed in the nation’s victory and peace. Additionally, she encouraged the younger generations to pursue their ideals of living, to try to work harder and be committed to the cause of building and defending the country today.

The event is one of the activities to celebrate the National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam at all levels. Also, it provided the participants an opportunity to understand more about the national struggle for independence, the preceding generations’ will to volunteer, sacrifice and not to surrender to the poor prison conditions during the wars of aggression against Viet Nam thanks to Cẩm’s stories, thereby increasing the effort to educate people about the revolutionary ideal, fostering the awareness of learning and adopting Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle among the youth unions’ members; contributing to making a change in the youths’ awareness and actions in order that they will join hands in the cause of building and defending the country and building a stronger Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union.
